What is Bodywork?
Bodywork is a type of equine massage that involves hands-on, interactive techniques that the practitioner does with the horse rather than to the horse. Releasing tension in the key junctions allows the horse to move more freely, influences positive behaviors and an overall sense of well-being.
As a Masterson Method® Certified Practitioner (MMCP), Lori uses touch to identify areas of tension in the horse and then applies The Masterson Method® techniques to release that tension. The Masterson Method® form of bodywork is extremely effective because it does not engage the horse’s survival responses of fight/flight/freeze. Instead, the rest/recovery/healing responses occur, allowing the horse to release tension in its body.
Bodywork is beneficial for healthy performance and competitive equestrian disciplines, pleasure riding, and pasture pets. It is not a substitute for veterinarian care. Your veterinarian should be consulted if you are not confident your horse is healthy enough for massage or bodywork therapies.
If your horse needs a little extra TLC, Lori will work with your veterinarian or chiropractor to set up a plan appropriate for your horse's well-being.
